David and Goliath

Do you know the story of David and Goliath? I am sure alam ninyo ito, here is the link:

And for sure alam din ninyo kung paano natalo ni David si Goliath by throwing a small stone in his big forehead. But before that great battle, before he was made king, he had lot of challenges nuon pa man.  First, he was overlooked by his own biological father, he was criticized by his own brothers mismo and sinabihan lang siya na taga dala lang ng pagkain, in short errand boy, delivery boy, runner lang… but when a prophet came to their house to choose a new king, he asked to see all yun magkakapatid. Pero yun biological father niya mismo iniwan siya sa labas to take care of the sheep. It was only when the prophet did not select yun mga magkakapatid at hinanap pa si David sa labas at siya ang napili nun prophet.

Alam ninyo brothers and sisters, David could get affected sa mga ginawa ng kanyang ama at ng kanyang mga kapatid, mismong family members na niya ang walang bilib sa kanya. He could have easily get affected sana, he could have gone around feeling insecure and question God about it.  But even though it seemed “you and me against the world” siya, David knew that he was personally handpicked by God.  Pinili niyang tumayo at maniwala sa pangako ng kanyang Panginoon.  And eventually, in God’s own time, David was successful!

What am I saying here my friends, today you may feel that your kamaganak mismo ang nagbababa sa iyo, o ang iyong mismong parents, kapatid or close friends, or ang tingin sa iyo ng mga tao ay parang runner lamang, or isang errand boy or worst the lowest form of animal in the company, LOL… you have done your best, pero hindi ka parin nila napapansin, or maybe you have been through some disappointments and nagiisip ka na ng hindi maganda sa buhay mo. Wait a minute kapeng mainit, HUWAG KA MANIWALA sa mga kasinungalingan ng demonyo! You are personally handpicked by God and He promised you something only He could fulfill…so keep the faith, keep pushing forward because God is working behind the scenes…Meron siyang plano sa buhay mo and He will always make a way. Look for a good bible based church and let the glory of God reign in you…

There is a King in You

Samuel 6:12-13 12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.” 13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.

I had an opportunity to attend Courts of Praise Church at Harriman, and man, it was a blast to worship God corporately with these amazing people of God, I missed the fellowship and most specially the praise and worship! Anyway, I just want to share with you what I learned in today’s sermon.

The title of today’s sermon is “There is a King in YOU”. If you are to read the story of David, he was anointed by the prophet Samuel, when his father wants to bless his children, David was not around, he was taking care of the sheep during that time, prophet Samuel ask David to be called to be anointed.  And we all know that David eventually became a king after killing goliath and when King Saul died of course, but one thing is certain, he encountered several trials along the way. I am sure he had doubts too in his mind.

King David had some real problems, like we have right now, aside from killing Goliath; he encountered several issues in life, like sibling problems, naiingit mga kapatid niya. He had relationship problems with King Saul, he even wanted David to be killed. He had adultery problem with Bathsheba and also killed her husband Uriah.  And his son, Absalom, rebelled on him. So I guess, he really had a very problematic life. And one thing is certain my friend, we will all encounter opposition in life. We will all have problems. What you have been hoping for may take longer than you expected. It may be difficult than you thought. And sometimes, you will think and get discouraged. Sometimes you will ask, why did this happened to me, why did my son/daughter or relatives did this to me, or why did I entered into this kind of relationship. And it’s never going to work out. Or I am tired of treating these people right when they are treating me wrong. Just like David, he kept pushing and pushing until he passed the test of faith.

Maybe you are in a difficult situation right now like David, maybe you have plenty of reasons to give up and to get discourage. Perhaps you have been struggling in your finances or problems with health, or with a relationship with your family or spouse. You may think now that you want to give up. Some of you may be asking, what did I do, to deserve this. And I like what Pastor Nick said in his service, “It’s not about what you did, but it’s all about what God will do to your life.  I have found out that in order for us to experience VICTORY, we need to first say to ourselves that “It may be hard, but I will endure. It may be long, but I will be patient. It may be impossible, but with You God, it is possible!” You may not understand it, but I do know that God is still in control.

Pastor Nick said “the more tears and sorrow that you sow, the more joy you will reap in the end. God will always turn things around”

My friend, no matter how long it takes, or how impossible your situation is, DO NOT give up! Continue pushing on, continue praying, and continue trusting God, because VICTORY is on its way! And remember this, where you are now is not where you are going to stay. You will never get out of that situation if you don’t ask God to move you in every area of your life! Keep the faith and YOU are blessed!
